The name Isaac Freeland is not one most people know in skiing, which is a shame. Isaac was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ for the Freeride World Tour in 2020. Before people were talking about women in skiing, Kim Reichhelm was the women in skiing. From racing on the US Ski Team, to filming with Greg Stump, to creating the K2 women’s program, Kim has been ahead of her time and she’s done things in a way that only she can pull off. Caite Zeliff grew up in a ski town but she wasn’t a skier. She was an only child to a single mom; she didn’t have the easy life of most of my guests. She found skiing through a school program, found her way into ski racing, and then worked her ass off. She earned scholarships to elite high schools, came close to the US Ski Team and raced in college briefly, got hurt, and gave up on racing forever. Mike Hattrup is another living legend. He was part of “The Goon Squad”, on the US Freestyle Team, and a star Blizzard of Aahhh’s, and a longtime pro skier who turned telemark and backcountry badass. While Andy did race for a bit, he left that world to become one of the more innovative skiers of his time, with his effortless switch landings, huge drops, and calm style that have inspired a generation of skiers.
